Content Marketing Strategy - Digital Marketing

Content Marketing Strategy
One of the most complex or rather overwhelming aspects of digital marketing is deciding how to initiate the process. For some, it is just a matter of coming up with what they have no matter what it is. While for others it is about articulating from the core of the business working outwards to give their niche market or potential customers true value.

This is why coming up with some kind of model helps ease things out a great deal.
In the initial stages of your content marketing strategy, you need to clearly understand what it is you have to offer. This is the foundation of your content marketing strategy, and it is from here that everything else flows with a bit of ease. You know your business in and out and it is here that you present it to the market e.g. stating your value proposition, telling your market why you are a better choice than your competitors.

Secondly, you need to answer the question of who your customers are. Doing this will save you a lot of time and money targeting the wrong audience. When you understand the persona of the audience you are going after it gives you leverage to tailor your content in a manner that they understand best, making them more likely to relate with what you have to offer.

After finding out who your customers really are, it is a good thing to know where they may be on the customer journey or funnel. This helps in tailoring your content to suit them at these points in their journey e.g. Awareness, interest, desire, action and finally the post action stage. If you don't consider this step then your content is bound to speak to a mass audience and hence lacking precision in communication.

Once you get the grips of the customer journey aspect of your marketing, you could then focus on the objectives of the campaign. Ask yourself the all-important question, "Why am I doing this, or why do I have to do this?" This is very important in understanding what to measure during the course of the campaign you may be running or planning to run.

The message you deliver to your target audience must be organized in a deliberate fashion in order to have the ultimate effect on them leading to a customer of your product or service. This cannot be understated, otherwise you lose all the time and effort you invested to create the foundation of your campaign if it is going to end up with weak content to the market/target audience.

Once all the above has been taken care of, it is time to look around for the best channels that suit your target audience. This could be Facebook, LinkedIn, Emails and so on. From your audience persona you can know what best channel to use in order to have an effective campaign using the least resources and yet archieving your goals and objectives at the same time.

In closing, it is safe to say that a good content strategy leads to usable tactics and finally an effective overall campaign for your business.
